I’ll start from afar, many believe that Nokyccasinos.org.uk the video game is a direct heir to cinema, but, but, I (and many will find this strange) consider the video game to be the heir to literary realism.
And here, don’t get me wrong, I don’t consider a video game to be the heir of moral and ethical intentions (from Lat. – desire) of realism, intention – this is a philosophical term denoting focus on an object (meaning an object of abstraction) or goal, I believe – its heir to one of the tasks of literary realism, and then cinema, and this task is to reconstruct physical-material existence. In addition to the above mentioned task, a video game has another interesting function (a function is an objectively existing property) – reconstruction of interaction… of any kind… well, almost of any kind.
Literary realism was and is characterized by a detailed description of physical and material existence: household items, clothing, etc. characters, their habits, the environment (geographical), the actions they (the characters) perform and their consequences, as well as the social space in which the plot unfolds. Cinematography is characterized by the demonstration of physical and material existence for the purpose of… But unexpectedly for everyone, another industry is growing out of cinema, which now rightfully occupies a significant place in the world market – this is, naturally, the video games market. The question is, what is there in computer and other games that, until today (read the 20th century), neither cinema nor literature could give to a person?? The answer is insanely simple, yes, I think you already guessed it yourself, this is an opportunity to directly influence and participate in those events that the participant-player himself chooses to be identical to himself. Ask me what I mean? Of course, the above can be considered complete nonsense and the ravings of a madman, maybe even necessary, but I will still explain – cinema and literature only allowed us to imagine what was happening to the character, but the game allows us to become this character. The game gives you the opportunity to save the world once again in the role of “Soap”, for someone in an extraordinary role, to become a participant in “real historical events and a witness to insidious intrigues in the role of Ezio, or to learn the secret of the universe and feel the full power of Fatum in the role of Booker Devitt.
What conclusion can be drawn from all of the above?? The game is a new full-fledged form of art; the game deserves much closer attention from humanists: philosophers, psychologists, sociologists. The video game is a new space of activity, naturally one of the most important types of pop culture. It has absorbed all the most important things from cinema and drama, and most importantly, the video game is an epiphenomenon (the predecessor of the phenomenon) of the modern postmodern cultural paradigm, which takes on the social functions of cinema and literature, and in the near future for us, the game can, in the language of F.Kafka, – "Throw into the void. "and cinema, and painting, and I repeat for the 100th time, literature,
having absorbed everything from them and becoming the only form of art due to its high demonstrative and suggestive potential, taking root as a universal form of self-expression.
As for the near future of the gaming market, I can’t say much, because everything here is still very vague, and the release of “nextgen” is relatively far away. There is no need to talk about an extraordinary gameplay revolution. The search for a balance between casual and hardcore continues. Developers continue to rest their heads on the gameplay ceiling. When it comes to the combat system, everyone is trying in one way or another to repeat the experience of the Batman duology and the Hashishin franchise (read Assassin) or to slightly expand the experience of the developers from Infinity Ward. When we talk about the cinematic component of the gameplay, nothing has changed since the first “Call of Duty”. RPG? Well, here the laws of the genre were established 1000 years ago by developers from Bethesda, Blizzard, Piranha Bytes. You can continue to tyrannize developers, but still this is an analytical article, which implies the presence of constructive criticism and theoretical solutions to the problem. Therefore, I will say this – this “arms race” (pardon the euphemism) will be won not by the one who offers consistently interesting and high-quality gameplay, but by the one who transfers this gameplay to new spaces, with new modes of interaction. The world is full of examples of such experiments:
glasses “Okukus Rift”, forgive me if I made a mistake in writing, an attempt after the release of “Avatra” to integrate 3D technologies everywhere, including into the gameplay, X-BOX Kinect, tablet gamepad from Wii-U, but I’m generally silent about attempts to introduce relatively modern technology “Brain-Computer Interface” for maximum ergonomic gameplay. This is what I mean when talking about new gameplay spaces and modes of interaction. Bringing to fruition precisely these experimental methods of integration with gaming reality will lead the gaming industry into the future, otherwise, in my opinion, it will face a gradual attenuation. And again, if the right vector of development is chosen, it seems to me that the passions between large companies and the rest of the development fraternity will subside, which, it seems to me, are caused only by the fear of economic collapse, because precisely in the current situation of the gaming market, the struggle for the dominant segment of it (the market) is more acute than ever, and the gaming industry will develop in smooth progressive movements, I will no longer come into conflict with its individual segments, until then again gamers will not reach the stage of satiety.
I think that’s it.
